Jacqueline "Jackie" Ingrid Gurney Bouvier[4] (née Gurney), occasionally referred to as Grandma Bouvier or Mrs. Bouvier, is the mother of Marge Simpson, Patty and Selma Bouvier, the widow of the late Clarence Bouvier, the mother-in-law of Homer Simpson and the maternal grandmother of Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson. She also had a sister named Gladys, now deceased.

Common Bouvier traits[edit]

Jacqueline shares many Bouvier family traits with her daughters. When Marge was a little girl, Jacqueline had a blue beehive hairdo like Marge's, and her voice was also very similar to Marge's as an adult. She began smoking when Homer and Marge got together but has since quit. She has, in common with Patty and Selma, a pessimistic and critical outlook on life, rarely smiling. While she may also have a generally negative opinion of Homer like Patty and Selma, this seemed to soften over the years; she even states "Patty and Selma are a sort of evil" when they purposely provoked Homer one night.

Romantic relationships[edit]

Jacqueline was married to Clarence Bouvier, now deceased.[5][6]

Marge tells Homer that when her father was trying to catch my mother's eye he sent her a box of candy with his photo afterwards she never forgot him.[7]

At one point, she had a brief romance with Abraham Simpson, the father of her son-in-law Homer. However, she broke up with him when she was wooed by billionaire Charles Montgomery Burns, whom she nearly married before Abraham's intervention made her decide she was better off alone.

History[edit]

Marge told Homer to hold it together on a flight for a family trip to Pile Ridge, Louisiana, unless he wants all their future vacations to be at her mother's house, talking her into hospice.[8]
