[hide]Synopsis[edit]
- "Homer angers Marge by binging their favorite show without her and learns how to dance in order to make amends. Meanwhile, Bart prepares to compete in the "Krusty's Holiday Trample" toy contest."
Plot[edit]
Bart phones Homer at night during a sleepover because he is fed up with Milhouse's antics, but Homer refuses to pick him up. Another call comes in, and Marge gets the news that her aunt, Eunice, is dying and she must board a plane. While preparing to leave, she lists everything Homer must not do, including watching the new season of Odder Stuff on Netflix without her. He promises not to.
Marge, Patty, and Selma travel to Eunice's house in Gainesville, Florida. Patty and Selma begin dividing Eunice's belongings prematurely, which angers Eunice when she finds out, leading her to smash a lamp. Meanwhile, while caring for Maggie, Bart and Lisa begin watching Odder Stuff, and Homer sees the same thing happening at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, much to his dismay. Krusty is also frustrated that children are watching the show instead of his.
Ted Sarandos eventually convinces Homer to watch it. As the season ends and Marge returns home, she discovers Homer watched it without her and becomes furious. She gives him the cold shoulder—literally. Meanwhile, Krusty launches a contest in which the winner gets to run through his store for five minutes and keep any toys they grab, with entry determined by writing an essay.
That night, Homer has a nightmare in which he is trapped in vines from the underworld. He seeks help from Reverend Lovejoy, who sends him to hell after Homer spoils the ending of The Crown. Ted Sarandos appears in the dream and tells Homer that Marge loves watching dance shows.
Determined to make things right, Homer visits the Some of That Jazz beginner dance studio to learn how to dance. His instructor, Julia, struggles to teach him and brings in Sweet Sal, a much tougher instructor. Homer lies to Marge, telling her he is going to Moe's Tavern every night.
One night, Marge grows suspicious and tells him to sleep on the couch. Meanwhile, Bart, Milhouse, and Ralph become finalists in the Hello Krusty's Krusty's Toy Trample. The contest is intense between Bart and Milhouse, but Ralph wins by grabbing both of their carts.
Homer invites Marge to The Snow Ballroom, promising to explain everything. They share a beautiful dance together, reconciling at last. In the end, Lisa wins something too—a toy pony—after it is revealed she wrote Ralph's essay.
