"Treehouse of Horror XXXII" is the third episode of broadcast season 33 of The Simpsons and the seven hundred ninth episode overall. It originally aired on October 10, 2021. The episode was written by John Frink and directed by Matthew Faughnan. It guest stars Susan Egan as the "You'll Never Sleep Again" singer, Maurice LaMarche as Vincent Price, and Tree Rollins as himself.

Synopsis[edit]
- In "Barti", Barti and his mother are chased by a hunter, Mr. Burns. In "Bong Joon Ho's This Side of Parasite", when the Simpsons are hired to look after the Wolfcastles' house, they find many people are squatting in the basement. In "Nightmare on Elm Tree", the trees of Springfield come to life and wage war on humanity. In "Poetic Interlude", Vincent Price reads the story of The Telltale Bart. Finally, in "Dead Ringer", a cursed TikTok video causes anyone who watches it to die.
Plot[edit]
Barti[edit]
In a parody of the film Bambi, Barti and his mother are chased by a hunter, Mr. Burns. After running into a cave, Barti finds out his mother never made it. Going back through the forest, he meets Mr. Burns and asks where his mother is, but she appears, reassuring him that his father saved her, stabbed Mr. Burns with Lenny, and they start eating Mr. Burns.
Bong Joon Ho's This Side of Parasite[edit]
In a parody of the 2019 South Korean film Parasite, the Simpsons live in a squalid basement apartment, full of water and pizza boxes, but their life changes when Bart gets hired at Rainer Wolfcastle's manor as a tutor.
A few days later, Bart is poorly teaching Greta Wolfcastle math when he switches on the TV to watch the The Itchy & Scratchy Show episode "D'oh Piercer". Meanwhile, Wolfcastle is reviewing Kirk but finds him no longer suitable, so Bart proposes that he hire his family instead, as Wolfcastle is leaving for vacation.
As the family enjoys living in a rich person's house, Kirk returns asking to be let in, and when Marge does, he runs to the kitchen and reveals a hidden door to the basement, where he hid his family. A fight starts between them and the other squatters already in the basement—other Springfielders in the same situation—and in the end, most of the people are dead, while the Simpson family remains standing and living in the house.
Nightmare on Elm Tree[edit]
In a parody of the film A Nightmare on Elm Street, Bart starts telling stories to Lisa and Maggie, scaring them into their parents' room, where they are having a passionate moment. Tired of Bart's scary tales, Homer tries to put an end to it by cutting down the treehouse's tree, but gets tired and falls asleep under it.
A thunderbolt strikes the tree, bringing it to life. It kicks Homer against the tree and makes its way to a drive-in, where it sees people watching Groot in "Guardians of the Galaxy", laughing at him. The tree picks people up and throws them away before reaching a tree farm, where it sees what happens to the trees there, bringing them to life by touching them. The trees begin getting their revenge, killing people in the town using their weaknesses, like pollen, and celebrate their win by dancing around the former statue of Jebediah Springfield.
Poetic Interlude[edit]
A voice reads "The Telltale Bart" to Maggie. In January, Bart puts earthworms in Homer's waffles. In February, he catfishes Mrs. Krabappel on Tinder. In March, he ruins the school's playground. In April, he takes nudes of his butt on the photocopier. In May, he steals Skinner's car and drives over the pole kids are dancing around. In June, he takes a sip of his first beer. In July, he cuts the heads off Lisa's Malibu Stacy dolls.
In August, he tries and fails to torture a turtle with the sun. In September, he spends the whole month in detention writing "I hate rhyming couplets" on the blackboard. In October, he eats Halloween candies until he turns green. In November, on Thanksgiving day, he cuts the heads off the family at dinner. Before the narrator can tell what he does in December, however, Maggie strangles him, then climbs into bed to sleep.
Dead Ringer[edit]
In a parody of the film series The Ring, the kids at Springfield Elementary reveal to Lisa they had a party without inviting her, but everyone who watched a TikTok video there dies within a week. Sherri and Terri die first, followed by Milhouse. Bart doesn't watch it but invites Lisa to. To stop it, Lisa and Bart have someone not afraid of death, Grampa, watch it instead.
Afterward, they go to Skinner, but he's not much help until Willie invites them to his shack to tell the story of Mopey Mary, who, upon receiving a box full of rabbit poop, went to the schoolyard well and threw herself in. Seven days later, he found the body but covered the well so nobody would find it, and says her spirit still lurks in the video.
Lisa musters the courage to watch the video and invites the mysterious killer on the phone to come and kill her now. Through the TV comes Mary, who gives her a valentine and invites her to be friends. However, at the schoolyard, when Lisa starts playing the saxophone, Mary throws herself down the well again to avoid hearing it, while Kang and Kodos appear, wondering why they always appear at the end.

The poster for the episode was done by Julius Preite.
The idea for Bong Joon Ho's This Side of Parasite segment came to the episode writer, John Frink, after he has seen Parasite movie. Then Frink had asked, if the show staff can do a parody on it in Halloween special, and Al Jean approved the idea.
Frink had been pitching to do a horror segment starring the treehouse (Nightmare on Elm Tree) for years. Matt Groening suggested using James Cagney as the voice for Bart's treehouse.
The Dead Ringer segment was suggested by Carolyn Omine.
