Benedict Arnold was a general during the American Revolutionary War who defected from the American to the British side. His name became synonymous with "traitor" in the United States

History[edit]

After the Springfield Mafia captured Homer, believing he was Krusty, Homer told them that he was Benedict Arnold. Legs asked Homer if he was the same Benedict Arnold who plotted to surrender West Point to the hated British. Homer replied, "D'oh!"[1]

After singing "Upstate New York", Homer said that Benedict Arnold fought there.[2]

Benedict Arnold was in the "Jury of the Damned" picked by Flanders the Devil for Homer's trial over the ownership of his soul. As the Grim Reaper was about to sentence Homer, Marge showed a photo from their wedding to the jury. Arnold read the back of the photo, where Homer had written that he had pledged his soul to Marge forever.[3]
