Sam is one of the two barflies usually seen at Moe's Tavern. Virtually nothing is known about him. Sam always wears a cap and glasses and was once shot by Moe, but has appeared since. Sam is a wife dodger, although Homer still says good things about him.

What a gambler!".[3] He was once seen briefly seen without his cap.[4] He was also once seen with his dog.[5]
