History
When John took Marge and the kids on a ride he showed them Plumbing Supplies, the store where Lupe Vélez bought the toilet she drowned in.
Behind the Laughter
Lupe Vélez was a Mexican actress who starred in films between 1924 and her death in 1944. She committed suicide aged 36 after becoming pregnant outside wedlock. Contrary to what John said, her death did not involve a toilet, but was due to an overdose of sleeping pills.
