The Simpsons got their own spin-off, "The Simpson Family Smile-Time Variety Hour", and Troy McClure told the audience that one family member refused to participate, but she was so perfectly recast that nobody would be able to tell. This family member was soon revealed to be Lisa, who was replaced by an attractive older model.[3]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
- The segment is a parody of The Brady Bunch Hour, an infamous short-lived spin-off of the 1970s sitcom, considered one of the worst shows of all time. The replacement of Lisa in the third segment with another girl reflects the recasting of Jan Brady in The Brady Bunch Hour when Eve Plumb refused to participate.
- Her cameo in "Viva Ned Flanders" was pointed out in the commentary.
- An image from the spin-off show in "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase" was seen in the couch gag for "Looking for Mr. Goodbart".
