Synopsis[edit]

Plot[edit]

Troy McClure is at the Museum of TV and Television where he reminds the readers about the three spin-offs that were cancelled after their first episode: Chief Wiggum, P.I., The Love-Matic Grampa, and The Simpson Family Smile Time Variety Hour. However, all three had tie-in comics released for them.

The Curse of the Mama Jama Voodoo Zombie Gumbo[edit]

In New Orleans, Clancy Wiggum and Seymour Skinner go to Mama Jama's Gumbo Hut, where several missing people were last seen. They pretend to be drifters from out of town and order two bowls of gumbo. When Mama Jama comes to their table with the gumbo, she tells them that the chef made a bet that they were a couple due to Skinner's cravat. As Wiggum digs into his gumbo, Skinner smells something bad. Wiggum then falls into his bowl, seemingly dead.

At the funeral, Skinner notices a woman staring at him. After the Simpsons leave, the woman approaches Skinner and reveals herself as Tofalinda Proudfoot, and she tells Skinner that Wiggum may not be dead. She explains that there's a special gumbo called zombie root gumbo. One bite makes your heart stop for two or three days. However, a whiff of the zombie gumbo restarts the heart. She and Skinner go to Wiggum's grave to wake him up, but the grave is empty as Wiggum is heading towards a van where Mama Jama and some other people are. Wiggum gets in the van and they drive off, with Skinner and Tofalinda following in Tofalinda's father's hearse. They end up at Big Daddy's estate and Skinner prepares to break in and rescue his partner.

Inside the estate, Big Daddy is making sure the plans for his get together the following Tuesday are ready, with the zombie-like missing people working on decorating the estate. A man then comes running into the room, telling Big Daddy that they couldn't stop Skinner from coming in. Skinner demands answers from Big Daddy and he explains that he's using the zombies to redecorate. Skinner points out how incompetent zombie workers are then points out several flaws with his decorating. Big Daddy offers Skinner a job as his interior designer before he comments about Skinner's cravat and head scarf. Skinner becomes angry and pushes Big Daddy out of the window and into the river. As Big Daddy swims away, Tofalinda tells Skinner that the zombie-ness will wear off in a week or so. Skinner removes his cravat and tries to flirt with Tofalinda, but she's more interested in the zombie Wiggum than Skinner.

The Love-Matic Grampa in Exchanging "Ows"[edit]

Moe is watching Julie Sharp on Action News in Moe's Tavern when he sighs. Grampa, who is still possessing the Love Tester, asks him what's wrong, and Moe laments about being a loser with no love life and no prospects. He's decided that if he doesn't have a girlfriend by midnight, he's going to kill himself. Grampa becomes worried, due to the possibility that a new bar owner would get rid of the Love Tester, so he comes up with a plan to get Moe a girlfriend. He tells Moe to call Julie Sharp to tell her about Grampa possessing the Love Tester.

When Julie shows up, she is shocked to find that the possessed Love Tester is real. She invites Moe back to her home so she can interview him. To show how serious she is at spending time with him, she goes to use the Love Tester. However, a lightning bolt strikes Moe's body and causes her and Grampa's souls to swap, so Julie is trapped in the Love Tester. Grampa rejects Moe's advances while trying to convince him that he's actually Grampa in Julie's body, but Moe becomes depressed, thinking that Julie is rejecting him. Moe goes to kill himself by stabbing himself with a knife, but Grampa tries to stop him by stealing from the cash register.

The next day, Moe reveals to Homer and Barney that he killed Julie's body, and Grampa ended up in the cash register. Moe got off the hook with the murder being a justified death. Grampa then tells Homer to count his change as Moe cheats his customers and Julie thinks that she's in Hell.

The Simpson Family Smile-Time Salute to Rock & Roll[edit]

The Simpson family are flying over the ocean to pick up Gary Busey and Susan Dey so they can film a rock episode The Simpson Family Smile-Time Variety Hour. However, Homer realizes that he doesn't know how to fly a plane and it plummets, crashing on an island. On the island, they find warnings in Ancient Polynesian that tell them that the island's god, K'Alonay-Ra, doesn't like rock music and will not tolerate it. Homer says that they have to cancel the show, but the rest of the family decides to carry on while Homer does nothing.

On stage, Marge and Susan Dey are doing a bird-themed sketch, but Dey does not know her lines. Homer and Gary Busey then show up on motorcycles, but Busey does not know his lines either. Both guests then say that they are still waiting in an airport in Hollywood and everyone tries to wake Homer up. Homer then wakes up on the island where the rest of the family has put together a stage to perform their show. First, they sing "None of Those Things", then Marge sings "Hey, K'aloney-Ra". Homer interrupts Marge's song because he has had enough and sings his "Rock Medley". This causes the volcano to erupt and one of the rocks lands near the stage, with Amelia Earhart emerging from it.

After wrapping up the show, Troy McClure is shocked about all the spin-offs, asking what the writers were thinking. He then tells the reader to watch out for future spin-offs such as Lenny Loves Carl and Who Wants to Swab Captain McCallister's Poop Deck? He then says that if the well of ideas ever runs out, there's always Ozmodiar, who is starring in the comic Always Ozmodiar.
