Carlson family
The Carlson family is the family of Carl Carlson. Carl was adopted by Carl Carlson, Sr. and Sigrin Siguðardóttir in Reykjavík, Iceland.[1] His biological father was a cowboy named Wyatt.[2]
The Carlsons[edit]
The Carlsons are from Iceland. A thousand years ago, the Carlsons served as watchmen on the coast of Iceland, keeping their eyes out for invading hordes. However, when an invasion came, the Carlsons not only let it happen, as everyone had expected, they actually joined in with the slaughter of their countrymen. This part was kept secret, with the page it was written on removed from the saga that chronicled the event.
Since this event, the Carlsons believed the story to be false and insisted their ancestors had fought bravely against the invaders. Centuries later, Carl Carlson, Sr. and Sigrin Siguðardóttir adopted a son who they named Carl Carlson.
In the present day, after Carl and his friends won the Springfield Lottery, Carl took the winnings back to Iceland to buy the missing page of the saga and clear his family's name. His family lived at 22 Hjorleifsstræti, where they were still pariahs in town and couldn't show their faces. When Homer, Lenny, and Moe tracked him down, they took the page off him and translated it. After finding out that the truth behind the Carlsons was even worse than everyone believed, Carl's friends gave a speech to the people of Iceland, telling of the nice things Carl had done for them. Hearing these stories won the people over and Carl's good deeds cleared his family's name.[1]
Carl's biological family[edit]
Before the American Civil War, Ellis was a slave on a ranch in Texas. On the first Juneteenth, Ellis found out that slaves had been freed. He then left on the wildest stallion on the ranch and became a cowboy. His descendants were all cowboys until Wyatt, who was the father of Carl.
When Carl wanted to learn about his family, he went to Henry Louis Gates Jr. on Finding Your Roots. He found out that Wyatt was the last cowboy of the family and was a bull rider. He took part in the Okmulgee Oklahoma Rodeo, where he rode a bull for 20 seconds. This led to a special belt buckle being made to commemorate his achievement, which he passed down to Carl. He eventually gave Carl and his sister, Carlotta, up for adoption. It is unknown what happened to Carl's parents after this, though Carl stated that his birth parents died before he was left at the orphanage.[2]
Fictional family[edit]
In a story told by Bart, the Carl's Dad Caverns were visited by the Simpson family. In Bart's story, the caverns were named after their founder, Carl's dad.[3]
