The Simpson Family Smile-Time Variety Hour is a TV show that the Simpson family starred in.

History[edit]

In The Simpson Family Smile-Time Variety Hour, they had all of the family, save for Lisa, who refused to participate, resulting in them having to recast her. One of the skits was when they were in a candy shop and they began to sing the song "I Want Candy!" They also did a skit when they were beavers, and they were providing cheesy jokes for the audience, who laughed at everything.

Tim Conway was a guest star on the show.[1]

Homer flew a plane with the Simpson family aboard to pick up the show's guests, Gary Busey and Susan Dey. The show they were doing included a "Rock Medley", which Homer was excited for. However, Homer did not know how to fly a plane, and they crashed on an island. While on the island, the Simpsons found out that the island's god hated rock music and that the volcano would erupt if rock music was performed on it. While the rest of the Simpsons set up for a non-rock show, Homer went to sleep and dreamed up a bird-related sketch starring Busey and Dey.

When Homer woke up, the stage was set for the show. The Simpsons started singing non-rock songs that they had come up with about being on the island, but Homer got sick of them and sang his "Rock Medley" instead. This caused the volcano to erupt and Amelia Earhart emerged from one of the rocks before they wrapped up the show.[2]

Songs[edit]

The songs sung in the show are "The Simpson Family Smile-Time Variety Hour Opening Theme", the "Candy Medley", "None of Those Things", "Hey, K'aloney-Ra", and the "Rock Medley".

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The show is a parody of The Brady Bunch Hour, which was cancelled after nine episodes. The replacement of Lisa is also a reference to the recasting of Jan Brady for the show, due to actress Eve Plumb refusing to participate.
