History[edit]
While Moe and Maya were corresponding online, Moe was captivated by her looks, and by the fact that she liked his jokes and thought his photo was cute. When they met in person, Moe was shocked to learn that Maya was a little person. Maya sent Moe pictures of her at Legoland, making it look like she was of average height as she was worried that Moe would reject her if he knew she was a little person.
Despite this, they ended up hitting it off and had a good time going on dates. Moe worried what his friends and bar patrons would think of her, but Homer didn't even pay attention to her height, instead being impressed by her looks and her intelligence.
Maya nearly married Moe, but he got too comfortable joking with her about her height, much to her chagrin. Moe tried to make it up to her by arranging to have height-reduction surgery (to literally knock himself down to her size), but she convinced him not to. She then left Moe because she was put off by his willingness to try something so crazy, and also because she wanted to be with a man who was truly comfortable with her size. Moe's seeking the surgery, therefore, showed Maya that he wasn't the right man for her.
Moe was sad to see Maya leave, but he had many happy memories of her and kept her picture in his bar.[1]
Maya was in the little magician's room at the magic show.[2]
In a coma dream that Bart had, Maya was on the wall of Ned Flanders' dead wives.[3]
Maya appeared in a flashback that Moe had where she slapped him.[4]
Whilst stuck in a traffic jam, Moe noticed a car that looked familiar. When he realized it was Maya's car, he drove onto the sidewalk and drove off. When Moe got stuck in another traffic jam, he finally approached Maya. Maya told Moe that she missed him and that she should have never let him go. The two of them then started to date again. When Moe realized that things were starting to get serious between them, he got scared that Maya would break up with him again and ran off. Moe lived in Bart's treehouse for a few days until Homer talked him into going back to see Maya. When Moe got back to his house, he found Maya packing her stuff up. Moe quickly told Maya why he left, and apologized before he proposed to her. Maya accepted the proposal, to Moe's shock.[5]
Personality[edit]
Maya is self-conscious about her height, choosing a picture of herself that made her look taller to send to Moe. However, she is also comfortable about her height and the way she is, and doesn't want people to treat her differently because of it. Maya makes jokes about her own height sometimes, and is also fine with jokes being made about her, although she gets annoyed when people won't stop making jokes about it. Maya is one of the few people who actually found Moe's jokes funny and enjoyed spending time with him.
