Homer Simpson was Abe Simpson's great-great-grandfather and was a whaler and an adventurer on the high seas.
History
He appeared in a story told by Abe to Bart, Lisa, and Homer, after Lisa asked if there had ever been a hero in the Simpson family.
One day on board a whaling ship, Homer was left in charge of flensing, where the whale blubber was minced into chunks and then melted down into oil. After accidentally swallowing some whale blubber, Homer developed a taste for the substance, and he soon had to get increasingly bigger doses to satisfy his cravings. After Homer was tied to the ship's mast as punishment for eating the ship's food, he was confronted by the monstrous whale Moby Dick; attempting to take a bite out of the whale, Homer got his teeth stuck in Moby Dick's tail. He ended up being dragged by the whale into the Bermuda Triangle, where the pair disappeared forever, making Homer the first person to vanish in the Bermuda Triangle.
