When Homer demonstrated outside Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Mr. Burns told Smithers that he hasn't seen anything like that since Jolson, and asked him who Homer was.[1]

Mr. Burns wanted Waylon Smithers, Jr. to get Al Jolson for a private concert for himself, and Marge. Smithers reminded Burns that he was dead last time he asked that, then Burns remembered and told him to get Tom Jones.[2]
