Brendan Beiderbecke is a singer, musician and former student at Springfield Elementary School.

History

Lisa met Brendan at the STEM Conference, where he was playing the piano in the hotel's bar. Lisa immediately fell for his looks, musical talent, and singing voice, although she disliked his arrogant attitude. Brendan serenaded Lisa with "Crazy Fling". She nervously introduced herself to him and learned that he was transferring to Springfield Elementary School. When Homer showed up, Lisa pretended not to know him to prevent Brendan from forming a negative impression of her.

Brendan later visited the Simpson house, where he played the piano while Lisa accompanied him on her saxophone. He criticized Lisa's timing, stating that she was behind the beat. Although the remark irritated her, she continued playing. At school, Lisa showed Brendan around the school, where he met Nelson. Nelson immediately disliked Brendan because he also had feelings for Lisa. Using his connection with the other bullies, Nelson arranged for them to trip Brendan. In response, Brendan began singing "I'm Tripping for You", making all the girls in the school swoon over him.

Lisa and Brendan subsequently went on a date to Phineas Q. Butterfat's Ice Cream Parlor for ice cream, where Brendan showed Lisa that he had a credit card. Nelson and the other bullies entered the parlor and performed "My Funny Valentine" in an attempt to win Lisa's affection. Although Nelson's performance included mild insults toward Lisa and his singing wasn't great, she nevertheless began to reconsider her feelings for him, much to Brendan's frustration.

Back at school, Lisa sought advice from Groundskeeper Willie regarding her dilemma between Brendan and Nelson. Brendan later attempted to perform another song for her, but Nelson interrupted in an effort to compete for her attention. Brendan grew irritated upon realizing that Lisa was genuinely conflicted, as he considered himself superior to Nelson and couldn't understand how it was even a choice. Tensions escalated, and Brendan and Nelson started fighting in the schoolyard. Lisa intervened to stop them and became even more smitten with Nelson after he impressed her with clever wordplay inspired by a book he had read for her.

During the Springfield Elementary Talent Show, Lisa informed Nelson that he couldn't sing. Despite this, Nelson chose to perform in hopes of winning her affection. Lisa imagined a future with Nelson, which ultimately led her to choose Brendan instead. Brendan won the talent show but was disqualified because he resided in West Springfield's school district. As a result, Brendan and Lisa mutually ended their relationship, recognizing that they wouldn't be able to reliably meet up anymore. Lisa cried as Brendan departed. Nelson then told her he was relieved she had not chosen him, admitting that he had prioritized jazz over doing his reps. Lisa concluded that she would remain single for the time being, and the whole audience supported her.

Personality

Brendan is highly arrogant, believing he is superior to others, yet he is also notably charming. He insults Lisa on multiple occasions, then uses his charm to make her feel better afterward. He is a talented musician and singer, and he knows how to manipulate Lisa in order to win her over.
