Homer Simpson was Abraham Simpson's great-great-grandfather and was a whaler and an adventurer on the high seas.

History

He appears in a story told by Abe to Bart, Lisa and Homer, after Lisa asks if there has ever been a hero in the Simpsons family.

One day on board a whaling ship, Homer is left in charge of melting down chunks of whale blubber into oil. After accidentally swallowing some whale oil, Homer develops a taste for the substance, and he soon has to get increasingly bigger doses to satisfy his cravings. After Homer is tied to the ship's mast as punishment for eating the ship's food, he is confronted by the monstrous whale Moby Dick; attempting to take a bite out of the whale, Homer gets his teeth stuck in Moby Dick's tail. He ends up being dragged by the whale to the Bermuda Triangle, where the pair disappear forever, making Homer the first person to vanish in the Triangle.
