Heloise Hodgeson Burwell was the author of the book The Princess in the Garden.

History

Marge wanted to read The Princess in the Garden to Lisa before she realized that it was offensive in today's culture. That night, Marge dreamed that she saw Heloise Hodgeson Burwell who asked Marge why she stopped reading the book to Lisa. Heloise Hodgeson Burwell told Marge that Lisa was just the kind of person she wrote the book for since Lisa was obedient, well-fed and white. Burwell then told Marge that she could edit the book to Lisa's sensibilities.

Behind the Laughter

Heloise Hodgeson Burwell is a reference to author Frances Hodgson Burnett.
