Clifford Burns is Charles Montgomery Burns's natural father and a seemingly pleasant man and loving father. He was married to Daphne Burns.

History

Sometime before Charles was taken away, Clifford found his son reading comics books and expressed his dislike of his son reading comic books rather than socializing. To teach his son a lesson he bought the comic book company and closed it down.

He apparently knew of his own father Wainwright's ill-will but was unable to stop Wainwright from abducting his son, adopting him, and corrupting him into a miser.

Mr. Burns claims he witnessed Clifford getting decapitated by a grain harvester.

In a flashback Burns had, his father let him sit on Santa's lap at Gimbels department store. Young Burns told Santa that all he wanted was a hug from his mom and a smile from his dad. However, this never happened and on Christmas Day, Burns was taken to boarding school. Later, his father and mother both died and still refused to hug him.
