Susan Sontag was an American essayist.

History

When Bart was investigating the Kwik-E-Mart robbery, he saw that the store's security tape showed Krusty reading The Springfield Review of Books. He then asked Sideshow Bob why Krusty would be reading it, Bob defended the choice due to the amusing caricatures of Gore Vidal and Susan Sontag found in the magazine. Bart then told Bob that he guessed he was right.[1]

When Marge suggested a family outing, Bart interpreted it to mean sexually, and said he'd start, exclaiming " Lisa's gay!". Lisa responded, sarcastically, that she wouldn't want to be gay like her heroes Billie Jean King, Susan Sontag, Sappho of Lesbos, and she suspects, Peppermint Patty.[2]

Behind the Laughter

  • Susan Sontag (1933-2004) was bisexual in real life.
