Agent James Bont is a secret agent and an enemy of evil genius and CEO of Globex Corporation, Hank Scorpio.

History

He was captured in his attempt to stop Scorpio but managed to escape. However, he was tackled by an oblivious and depressed Homer Simpson, who was unaware of Scorpio's activities. Bont was immediately executed by Globex guards. Scorpio was clearly pleased with Homer's performance, but Homer believes that James Bont was simply a loafer on the job, as evidenced by Homer's later boasting to his family that he nabbed a loafer.[1]

At Mr. Burns' Casino, James Bont was playing poker with Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Jaws, and Oddjob. After Bont lost, due to Homer dealing him a joker and the rules card, the supervillains dragged Bont out of the casino. Bont tried to blame Homer, since he never lost. He then asked if they would at least tell him his plan for world domination.[2]

Behind the Laughter

James Bont is an obvious parody of Ian Flemming's famous spy character, James Bond, specifically the way he was portrayed by Sean Connery. In the comic ...So You Want To Work for Globex, Huh? are his name, "James Bont" which was also his name in "The Simpsons: Tapped Out".

Bont was supposed to make his debut in the episode "$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)", but the scene was deleted. It would later be shown in "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular".
