History

When Homer goes to college, he cannot stand nerds. To calm him down, Lisa explains that some nerds have done memorable things and mentions popcorn magnate Orville Redenbacher, rock star David Byrne and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court David Souter.[1]

When Homer performed "Flanders Is His Name" with Lenny and Carl in Moe's Tavern, David Byrne went into Moe's to ask them to sign up for a record deal with him. Byrne then produced "Everybody Hates Ned Flanders", which became a huge hit. Homer and Byrne went on to perform the song together in public. Eventually, Homer got sign of the song being played and remixed all the time. As the Simpson family left for the Lazy I Ranch, David Byrne followed them in his car to play the salsa remix of the song, "El Hombre Estupido", for them. As he was dancing on his car, he slipped off and landed in Moe's car. Byrne asked Moe to take him to the hospital, but Moe kidnapped him instead. Moe then forced Byrne to produce a song for him, "Moe, Moe, Moe".[2]

David Byrne was seen in Capital City.[3]

He is also one of the many people on "Ned's List of Laudable Lefties".[4]
