Joe Quimby, Sr. is the father of Mayor of Springfield "Diamond Joe" Quimby. He is also the late husband of Rose Quimby and paternal grandfather of Freddy Quimby and Maria Quimby.
History[edit]
He was shown in newsreel from the News on Parade Corporation News when he received a plaque after Springfield was declared one of America's 400 fastest growing cities.[1]
Quimby, Sr. had ran illegal liquor business, which prohibition caused to thrive in 1920. He then "expanded his bathtub gin operation to include sink vodka, toilet scotch, and bidet bourbon".
Joe Quimby was his first legitimate child. Joe Sr. also has children with Agnes Moorehead and, later, with all of his son's nannies. In 1961 Joe Quimby, Sr. mysteriously disappeared. His body was found a decade later, marooned in a sand trap on the back nine.[2]
At one time, it was mentioned that the Springfield Mall was in a dilapidated state due to the mayor's dad being murdered there.[3]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
