Sir Thomas More was the lord chancellor for Henry VIII.

History

When Henry VIII wanted to get a divorce from Margarine of Aragon, he went to see Sir Thomas More. Sir More told him that he couldn't get a divorce as the church didn't allow it. Henry VIII then suggested that he would make his own church that would allow divorce. Thomas More then told him that he worked for the Pope and that the Pope knew more about marriage than Henry did. Due to Sir More sticking to his principles, Henry VIII "canonized" him by shooting him out of a cannon.
