Madame Bouvier-Defarge was a member of the Bouvier family and lived in the late 1700s.

History

Madame Bouvier-Defarge was a huge supporter of the Reign of Terror that went on in France during the late 1700s. She frequently attended guillotine executions throughout the French Revolution, as she held "season tickets".

Behind the Laughter

She is a parody of Madame Defarge, the central villain in Charles Dickens' novel A Tale of Two Cities.
