History

After Judge Snyder's pay was cut when Springfield was going bankrupt after his new law, he said to Bart that he was making less than Roy Bean and he had a saloon to fall back on.

  • Roy Bean (c. 1825 - March 16, 1903) was an eccentric Texan saloon-keeper and Justice of the Peace who held court in his saloon along the Rio Grande. He has been portrayed in many Western films and books.
