Thomas Edison was an American inventor, scientist, and businessman who developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb.

History
After Lisa mentioned to Homer that Thomas Edison invented the film projector as well as many other inventions Homer uses, Homer decided to learn more about Edison and eventually idolised him. At his museum, The Edison Museum, Bart and Homer aimed to smash the chair which was identical to Homer's invention. On the car trip to the museum Edison, as a ghost, appeared in front of Homer where he tried to convince him to not destroy the chair. However, when they visited the museum, Homer discovered that Edison idolised Leonardo da Vinci and failed to destroy the chair.[1]
Abe once claimed to be the first Springfieldian to ever own a radio, which only played Edison continuously reciting the alphabet.[2]
