Richie Sakai is an anesthesiologist and musician.

History

Sakai was among the Moe's Tavern customers listening to Homer tell his story of being a mascot for the Springfield Isotopes.[1]

He sang in the karaoke bar at the Happy Sumo restaurant. He sings "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" which he dedicates to his wife, Pattie.[2]

He later appeared in Sideshow Bob's campaign ad as one of the convicts escaping from the revolving door prisons.[3]

He is mentioned in a long list of jazz musicians. He plays the vibraphone.[4]

Behind the Laughter

He is modeled and named after long-time producer Richard Sakai, but he is voiced by Dan Castellaneta.
