Huey Long was the Governor of Louisiana and then U.S. Senator during the Great Depression. In 1935 he was fatally shot at the Louisana State Capital in Baton Rouge.
History[edit]
On September 8, 1935 at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge Cornelius Chapman once took a bullet for Huey Long. Unfortunately, Long had already been hit by five bullets, with Chapman taking the sixth bullet of the volley.[1]
On the "Movie Day" Bart's class watch A Streetcar Named Desire, more specifically the "I'm the King Around Here" scene where Stanley Kowalski is referencing Hugh Long's slogan Every Man a King.[2]
