History

Marge wanted Homer to get rid of a T-shirt bearing the image of Ruhollah Khomeini and mocking the ayatollah, citing its irrelevance given Khomeini's death years previously. Homer retorted that its statement was applicable to any ayatollah, naming Ayatollah Nakhbadeh, Ayatollah Zahedi, and stating that, at present, "Ayatollah Razmara and his cadre of fanatics [were] consolidating their power." At the neighborhood rummage sale, Homer attempted to sell the T-shirt by rhetorically asking the crowd if the ayatollah was right in thinking himself better than America.[1]

A picture of Ruhollah Khomeini was on one of the Iran hostage crisis shot glasses that Moe owned.[2]
