History[edit]
When Homer was reported for possessing lowbrow contraband (a copy of Funniest Home Videos), the fire department burst into his house to arrest him. Siegfried Blaze accompanied them and told Homer he had disappointed him, explaining that they set fires for the good of humanity. He then explained that they had learned long ago that entertainment must fully occupy the consciousness of the population and that challenging shows were the perfect distraction from how dystopian their society had become.
