Guglielmo Marconi was an Italian inventor and scientist.

History[edit]

After Mrs. Krabappel told her class that the wireless was an invention by Guglielmo Marconi, she asked if anyone knew what his first message was. Milhouse answered, "I wanta changea my namea," and the class laughed. Then Martin Prince said, "Our 10th caller will receive tickets to Supertramp," and the class laughed again.[1]

When Lisa got out of the car and took her schoolwork, it could be seen that it was a "spaghetti Marconi".[2]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Milhouse's impression uses an exaggerated Italian accent, but Marconi's mother was Irish and heiress of the Jameson Irish Whiskey so he knew English his whole life and has no thick or soft Italian accent in recordings of him speaking English.
