Jesse W. Reno was an American inventor. He is a member of Homer Simpson's Lazy Hall of Fame.

History

Homer includes Reno in The Lazy Hall of Fame for his invention of the escalator, which was a vast improvement over stairs in getting a people up a hill with the least amount of effort: "The stairs move and you just stand there!"

Behind the Laughter

In real life, Jesse W. Reno (1861-1947) invented the first working escalator.
