In real life, Jesse W. Reno (1861-1947) invented the first working escalator. The image is based on the real photograph taken in 1903 at R. H. White Department Store in Boston.[1] [2] The city of Reno, Nevada was not named after him, but for his father Major-General Jesse L. Reno.
