Anne of Cleves was a German princess and Queen of England as the fourth wife of Henry VIII of England.
History[edit]
Anne of Cleves appeared in a story told by Marge. King Henry VIII (portrayed by Homer) got married to Anne of Cleves (portrayed by Agnes Skinner), who was an old 95-year-old widow, as she had a great track record of producing ten sons. Henry VIII had her executed, where she criticized the executioner's techniques.[1]
While building a model depicting the inside of Westminster Abbey (a project that Bart was supposed to do), Homer fell asleep and dreamed he met Geoffrey Chaucer's ghost. Chaucer told Homer that he was doing the right thing in doing all of Bart's work for him, as it was the best thing for the boy. Next, Anne of Cleves appeared and told Homer that Chaucer's advice was terrible; Homer's doing everything for Bart meant that he would never learn to do anything for himself. Of Henry VIII's six wives Anne Cleves is the only one buried in Westminster Abbey. The ghost of Anne of Cleves wears the same outfit as the one in her famous portrait by Hans Holbein which now hangs in the Louvre. The ghost also speaks with an English accent while Anne of Cleves came from Düsseldorf and did not speak any English before she landed in England to marry the King.
