DC Comics is a comic book franchise famous for superheroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, The Green Arrow, Plastic Man and Watchmen. These have been adapted in various media over the years, including TV series and films, and have been referenced on The Simpsons numerous times.

When Lisa talks with Daniel Clowes how much she liked Ghost World he tells her that he would rather draw Batman comics and starts talking about his utility belt, much to Lisa's disinterest. Milhouse shows Alan Moore a copy of Watchmen Babies in V for Vacation - a juvenile spin-off of Watchmen and V for Vendetta - and asks him to sign it, which outrages him, in reference to his real-life dissatisfaction about media adaptations of his own work. Homer Simpson's Little Book of Laziness In his list of types of lazy people, Homer identifies Comic Book Guy as "The Procrastinator", citing him as saying, "I'll get to the inventory, right after I blog my top twenty-five reasons why Batman cannot possibly be gay." In his reviews of comic book adaptations of works of classic literature, Comic Book Guy makes multiple references to the DC universe: Regarding the Little Women of Little Women, CBG says he envisions a Team-Up issue with the Little Men, including the Atom and Doll Man. Also, the cover shows Hester Prynne opening the front of her dress to reveal the red "A" on her underclothes, in a pose similar to Clark Kent changing to Superman.
