The Fly is a 1958 science fiction horror movie by Kurt Neumann based on a short story by George Langelaan. The plot follows a scientist who accidentally mutates himself into a fly. One version of himself has a fly's head and paw but an otherwise human body, the other has the body of a fly with his head. The picture also had Vincent Price in a supporting role. In 1986 the film was remade by David Cronenberg starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. Both films have been frequently referenced on The Simpsons.

2 16 "Treehouse of Horror" As the bugs get electrocuted by Homer’s bug-zapper one of them yells “Ow!” in a tiny, high-pitched voice, implying it’s a mutated human fly like in ‘The Fly’.
9 182 "Treehouse of Horror VIII" The "Fly vs. Fly" segment is an entire parody of the film. Bart turns in a partial fly mutant thanks to a failed experiment. The scene where he is stuck in a spider’s web parodies the 1958 original, while the more icky scenes reference the 1986 remake.
