Synopsis[edit]

"Homer finds his calling as a TV recapper, but his harsh grading causes a brawl with Krusty. After almost killing Homer, Krusty hides out at a real circus, and finds happiness there."

Plot[edit]

At an editorial meeting for the Daily Fourth Gradian, Skinner announces that the sales go down, so he hired a new editor, Billy, bringing the journal online only and assigning Lisa to be a simple TV recapper.

At home, she asks Homer to help her do the job as they watch The Krusty the Clown Show, starting with the Itchy & Scratchy episode Death Shawarma-ed Over. Sideshow Mel notifies Krusty of the recap that gave him really low points.

Krusty gets really mad and tries to kill Homer with the car, and they end up struggling while driving, ending up in a accident. Bart arrives at the scene and is relieved Krusty is still alive, and takes him away from it to a circus, changing his name to Soggy the Clown, while Homer becomes famous.

Meanwhile, Krusty's job is a disaster, and he gets fired, but when one of the workers is ill, he performs good and gets rehired and happy. Suddenly though due to a video they sold at the circus that was bad, they shut it down.

Meanwhile Homer stops his work when it started ruining his relationship in bed with Marge, but he gets picked up by Google-Disney's CEO and brought to its office, where he shows his plan to fool Americans into believing they are watching all the shows but instead they're just seeing the commercials for them, with a seemingly infinite list of them. Homer however recaps all of the plan and posts it online.

The circus closes down, but the manager needs just 50 grands to reopen it. To maintain it open, he offers to turns himself in for the great of the circus and the police gives them the money. At the court, the jury finds him not guilty. The circus leaves town, and Krusty says goodbye to them in the end, going back to his show, to which the new recapper, Ralph, gives a good A grade, while Billy gets mad at the headline featuring it and changes it to one about cooking scrambled eggs.

Production[edit]

In a deleted scene, Krusty yells at his writers after Homer's recap and threatens them.[1]

Reception[edit]

"Krusty the Clown" was nominated for a 2019 Writers Guild of America award in Animation, but it lost to "Bart's Not Dead".[2]
