"Married to the Blob" is the tenth episode of broadcast season 25 of The Simpsons and the five-hundred and fortieth episode overall. It originally aired on January 12, 2014. The episode was written by Tim Long and directed by Chris Clements. It guest stars Harlan Ellison as himself, Maurice LaMarche as Milo, and Stan Lee as himself.

Synopsis[edit]

While lamenting over being single, Comic Book Guy meets Kumiko, an attractive young Japanese woman and manga fan. The two of them get into a relationship and grow closer. But when Homer almost ruins their relationship by telling Kumiko's father about Comic Book Guy, Homer sets out to convince her father to accept their relationship.

Production[edit]

The couch gag was created by Bill Plympton.[1] The episode's original title was "The Fat and the Furious: Tokyo Drift".[citation needed]

Reception[edit]

"Married to the Blob" was nominated for a 2014 Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement for Writing in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production. However, it lost to Mickey Mouse.[2]

Sound mixers Mark Linden and Tara A. Paul received a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation in the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards for the episode. However it lost to "The Lady with the Lamp" from Nurse Jackie.[3]
