Napoleon III was Napoleon Bonaparte's nephew who ruled as Emperor of the French from 1852 until he was deposed in 1870 following his capture during the Franco-Prussian War.

Napoleon III was to judge art by many art galleries, even though he didn't like art. The one thing Napoleon loved was cheese. To get Emperor Napoleon to see their art, the students created a giant fake cheese wheel and rolled through the art gallery, causing Napoleon to chase after them, eating the wheel. The students then showed the Emperor their art and Napoleon awarded Bart the medal.
