Lewis Clark[3] is a student in Springfield Elementary School. He is one of Bart's friends, and one of only a handful of black students at the school. His best friend seems to be Richard.

Biography

Lewis is one of Bart's friends and fellow fourth-graders in Mrs. Krabappel's class. He once annoyed a guilt-ridden Bart when he hid under a pile of leaves and pretended to be Principal Skinner's corpse,[4] and he failed to vote for Bart in the class presidential election.[5] He is most commonly seen playing in the schoolyard with his friend Richard.

Lewis was one of the children in the Model UN Club that were stranded on an island and, thinking he was going to die, Bart mistook him for Wendell.[6]

Lewis seems to be a good runner as he had the best odds during the Springfield Elementary race around the school, he was temporally in first place until a pumped up Milhouse took the lead. On that same day, he sent Superintendent Chalmers a text claiming he'll "be out of the office" between June and August.[7]

He attended Milhouse's birthday party and was shown around by Milhouse.[8]

He attended the school dance with Sophie Jensen.[9]

In The Simpsons Game, Lewis is one of the children wearing Itchy and Scratchy masks who attack Marge and Lisa on the level "Mob Rules". He is also among the enemies sent by God in "Game Over". He is also seen walking around Springfield. Some of his dialogue implies he has a crush on Lisa.

Lewis was seen running from the New New York Police Department after he and many other citizens were transported to New New York.

Behind the Laughter

In earlier seasons, Lewis could be considered as Bart's second-best friend. As the roles of Nelson and Milhouse were enlarged, Lewis was seen with Bart less and less often and was finally relegated to background character status.

Whenever he is shown in comics or on posters, he has different colors, his sweater has a red stripe instead of the usual beige, his shorts are blue and his shoes are red.

His full name is a reference to the explorers Lewis and Clark.

Lewis has on occasion had the colors of his look-alike e.g. in "Marge vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens and Gays" and on the background of the World of Springfield cafeteria playset.
