Behind the Laughter[edit]

The "Samwise" nickname is a reference to his role as Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Sean Astin's lead role in Rudy was parodied twice in football-themed episodes with Rudy from "Bart Star" and Rudy from "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday".
