Behind the Laughter

The "Samwise" nickname is a reference to his role as Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Sean Astin was the lead in the based-on-true story sports movie Rudy which was parodied twice in football-themed episodes with Rudy from "Bart Star" and Rudy from "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday".
