Doug Vaccaro, also known as Chip, is a TV handyman and actor.

History

Homer and Bart went to the Mom & Pop Hardware store to buy some tools to perform home repairs. The two found a section at the store that was selling a BBQ pit kit, with an ad with Doug Vaccaro being played on a TV. Homer was convinced to buy the kit after Vaccaro showed how easy it was to build the BBQ. Doug Vaccaro also said he was known as "Chip" when he was part of the hit sitcom Toolin' Around.

Behind the Laughter

Doug Vaccaro resembles Richard Karn's character, Al Borland, from the TV series Home Improvement. Similar music from that show is also heard playing when Homer starts building the BBQ pit in his garden.
