History

When the word got out that the Simpsons hadn't yet decided who to vote for, a horde of candidates and media representatives descended on the Simpson home, among them Fred Thompson. Homer threw them all out, but Thompson lingered, hiding behind a large house plant. Homer then addressed him specifically: "You too, Fred Thompson!" Thompson protested that he had been in Die Hard, but Homer scoffed and scornfully said, "Die Hard 2!" Thompson then meekly left.

Behind the Laughter

  • Harry Shearer provided the voice of the Fred Thompson character.
  • Fred Thompson is an actor and politician in real life and has enjoyed distinguished careers in both fields.
  • Die Hard is one of Homer's favorite movies,[1] which explains his scornful reaction to Thompson's claiming to have been in the original movie when he was actually in a sequel.
