Fred Thompson is an American actor and politician.

History[edit]

When the word got out that the Simpsons hadn't yet decided who to vote for, a horde of candidates and media representatives descended on the Simpson home, among them Fred Thompson. Homer threw them all out, but Thompson lingered, hiding behind a large house plant. Homer then addressed him specifically: "You too, Fred Thompson!" Thompson protested that he had been in Die Hard, but Homer scoffed and scornfully said, "Die Hard 2!" Thompson then meekly left.[1]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

  • Fred Thompson (1942-2015) was an actor and politician in real life and enjoyed distinguished careers in both fields. He died on November 1, 2015, of cancer.
  • Die Hard is one of Homer's favorite movies,[2] which explains his scornful reaction to Thompson's claiming to have been in the original movie when he was actually in a sequel.
