David Mirkin (born September 18, 1955) is an American writer, director and producer, best known for his work on The Simpsons, on which he is one of the current writer/producers. He served as showrunner for the fifth and sixth seasons, and also co-wrote the screenplay for The Simpsons Movie, and wrote such episodes as "Deep Space Homer". He was born in Philadelphia and attended Loyola Marymount University. His other works include writing for Three's Company and Newhart. He created the TV series Get a Life and The Edge working as showrunner and frequent director. He also wrote and directed on The Larry Sanders Show. Mirkin also directed two feature films Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and Heartbreakers. He was also interviewed in The Simpsons: Celebrity Friends, The Simpsons: Mischief & Mayhem, The Simpsons: Access All Areas, and The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special – In 3-D! On Ice!.
