Character Information
|
Rayshelle Peyton is a fourth grade teacher at Springfield Elementary School.
History[edit]
Ms. Peyton was a teacher in Ghana for two years. However, she moved to Springfield because her husband, Darryl Peyton, got a new job as part of the Springfield Orchestra.
Before she became the new fourth grade teacher at Springfield Elementary, Ms. Peyton stayed at the resort Paradiso del Mare. When Bart sneaked into the resort's pool, he got winded and started to drown. Ms. Peyton dived into the pool, still in her dress, and rescued Bart. Because Bart felt embarrassed about this, he yelled at Ms. Peyton and ran off. After this incident, Ms. Peyton referred to Bart as "angry drowning boy" in her head, since she didn't know his name.
When Ms. Peyton introduced herself to the other teachers, she told them that she wanted to do project-based learning with the school. At first the other teachers weren't interested, but Ms. Peyton then revealed that she had drawn up all the lesson plans they would need for them. When Ms. Peyton was introduced to Bart, she didn't recognize him, but Bart recognized her. Bart then started acting up towards her because he was feeling guilty about the way he acted towards her at the pool, and he had a crush on Ms. Peyton. Due to Bart's antics, Ms. Peyton ended up calling Homer and Marge into the school to discuss Bart's behavior.
At home, Bart confessed his feelings about Ms. Peyton to Homer. Homer then told Bart to just tell Ms. Peyton everything so he wouldn't have to be so awkward around her anymore. Bart goes to do that, but then sees Ms. Peyton's husband meet with her and kiss her. This causes Bart to feel angry and he breaks the school water fountain. When the school's project gets presented to the parents, Bart tells Homer that he was right and that he had a crush on Ms. Peyton. Homer told Bart to just let it go and his something soft or scream into something to let his feelings out. When Bart needed to do this, he found a jar of water in a bag and opened it to scream into it. However, this jar contained Molly, an octopus that Lisa was keeping. Molly attached herself to Bart's face and Bart ended up accidentally destroying the project. This led to Ms. Peyton to consider leaving the school, although Principal Skinner tried to talk her out of it.
In Bart's classroom, Bart went to see Ms. Peyton and apologize to her. He tells her that he had an octopus on his face, which Ms. Peyton believed because she thought that Bart wanted to be good, and he had tentacle hickeys over his face. Bart then emptied the flower vase over his head and put on goggles to show that he was the kid who Ms. Peyton saved at the swimming pool. Bart then told her that he really did need her help and then Bart thanked her for seeing him and admitted that he kind of liked her. Ms. Peyton told Bart that him having a crush on her meant that he was coming to love a new part of himself that she was bringing out in him. When Bart asks if she needed help packing up, Ms. Peyton told him that she was staying after all. Bart then told Ms. Peyton that Edna Krabappel had a trick that helped, writing lines on the chalkboard. Ms. Peyton then made Bart do this.[1]
Darryl and Rayshelle were seen together at the Springfield Mall.[2]
Homer and Marge visited Ms. Peyton at school to discuss Bart moving into fifth grade. After this, Marge had a dream where Ms. Peyton told Marge that Bart's childhood was over once he reaches fifth grade. After waking up in the medical tent at Springfield Elementary School, Marge spoke again with Ms. Peyton who told Marge that she'd never say that Bart's childhood is over like that, and that Bart had years of his childhood left to go.[3]
