History
Claude Kane III bumped into her on his way to see Gloria Grand. Gretchen asked him to take his hat off in the presence of a lady, but Claude said he couldn't as he is susceptible to head colds. Gretchen then walked away, thinking that Claude's head is empty so it must be very drafty.[1]
When Gloria mentioned to Claude that she couldn't go on a lunch date with him because she was dieting, Gretchen made a snide remark about it being good that Gloria was losing weight before anyone mentioned it to her. Later, Gloria and Gretchen went to a diner together to talk about the story Gloria had uncovered in Hornsby. When Gloria ordered some ice cream, Gretchen said that she thought that Gloria was dieting. Gloria told Gretchen to live a little and help her finish the ice cream and Gretchen agrees that they may as well enjoy themselves now.[2]
