History
Origin
Homer Simpson accidentally pushed Carl into a vat of nuclear waste. The radiation exposure gave Carl super strength, and he resolved to use his powers to help others. Later he teamed up with Iron Foot.
The Disco Inferno Incident
Nuclear Power Man was in the middle of cooking Christmas dinner for himself and Iron Foot when he saw several large fires outside his apartment window. The two of them went to see what was happening, and found that the fires were the work of supervillain Disco Inferno, who had started the fires with a flamethrower. The Village People had been sent to negotiate, but were unsuccessful, so Nuclear Power Man and Iron Foot decided to fight Disco Inferno. Nuclear Power Man got there first (as Iron Foot was hampered by his heavy foot) and began to fight Disco Inferno.
Disco Inferno got in the first blow, firing off a jet of flame that narrowly missed Nuclear Power Man's head but singed his hair, turning his Afro into a Flattop. Nuclear Power Man lamented, "What have you done to my 'fro? This style won't be popular for at least ten years!!!" Now enraged, Nuclear Power Man charged Disco Inferno and grabbed him by the collar, determined to land a lethal blow.
The fight was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Linus van Pelt, who told them they had forgotten the meaning of Christmas and then gave a speech about the meaning of Christmas. After hearing the speech, Nuclear Power Man and Disco Inferno decided to stop fighting. However, Iron Foot finally arrived, thought the fight was still on, and tried to kick Disco Inferno but accidentally kicked Linus, sending him flying through the air.
Later, Nuclear Power Man, Iron Foot, the Village People, Disco Inferno and a heavily bandaged Linus all gathered at Nuclear Power Man's apartment for Christmas dinner. As Nuclear Power Man served the turkey, Iron Foot asked when the green flecks on it were. Nuclear Power Man said they were chives: "It's my special chive turkey for you jive turkeys!" Linus mumbled a response through his bandages, and Nuclear Power Man replied, "Right you are! Merry Christmas to all and to all a sweet Christmas!" He and his guests then all raised their glasses in a toast as the story ended.
Behind the Laughter
Nuclear Power Man is a parody of Luke Cage, the Marvel Comics character better known as Power Man and half of the title duo from the comic book Power Man and Iron Fist.
