Smilin' Joe Fission is the official mascot of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and the Springfield Isotopes.

History

He starred in a filmstrip about nuclear power, which was shown to Bart's fourth grade class when they visited the plant on a school trip.[1]

His pet peeve is to be mistaken with Ross Perot. He has been featured in other animated atomic films, such as Atom and Eve: A Return to Eden, Why Flesh Won't Fall Off Your Face, and Please Don't Eat the Daisies Near the Recovery Tank.[2]
