The Scarlet Pimpernel is a fictional hero of the Scarlet Pimpernel book series set during the French Revolution.

History

When Bart wanted Marge to help him with a prank on Comic Book Guy, Marge imagined Superman. Superman told Marge that for legal reasons, he wasn't Superman, but he was "Uber Hombre". The real Uber Hombre then appeared and complained that the lack of clear copyright in his country had screwed him. The Scarlet Pimpernel then appeared and said that his copyright had expired and asked if Superman would like to be the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Behind the Laughter

The Scarlet Pimpernel is cited as a prototype for comic book superheroes and Stan Lee of Marvel in particular has credited the character as a major influence.
